What is LARP?

LARP is short for Live Action Role Playing and can be described as improvised theatre without an audience. Larping as a concept has grown a lot during the last few decades and nowadays you can find a great variety of larps in many genres, ranging from realism to horror to fantasy to sci-fi to steampunk to psychological.
These days it also comes in different forms, from fully immersive settings where you live as your characters for many days, to smaller scenarios set in black boxes. The idea is always the same though: you play a character and interact with other characters to create a story together. This kind of role play is very closely related to tabletop roleplaying where a group of people sit together and play characters. The difference is that in tabletop you describe what your characters do, in LARP you do what they do.
